Heidelberg Athletics Hall of Fame
Bill Bonar earned his trip to the Hall of Fame as possibly the best golfer in Heidelberg history and a top passer for the football team.
He was a four-year letter-winner for the golf team, playing as No. 1 man all four years. He was named All-Ohio Athletic Conference for his performance at the golf championships three years and earned second-team All-American as a senior after finishing 11th at the NCAA Championships.
Bonar was also a standout quarterback for Heidelberg during his career. He was a freshman on the 1972-football team, which won the Stagg Bowl and was inducted into the Hall of Fame last year. He was a four-year letter-winner with the football team and led the OAC in passing in 1975, while completing 56.4 percent of his passes during his senior year.
In addition to his work on the golf and football teams, he was an assistant with the women's basketball team during his career in the Tricolor.
He has continued to teach and coach throughout his career. He has spent the past two years as the assistant principal for the Stanbery Freshman Campus of Lancaster High School.
Bonar went on to earn a master's of science in physical education from the University of Akron in 1985 and a master's of science in educational administration from the University of Dayton in 1993.
He married Ann Kiewit ('76) in 1976 and the couple has three children. Sarah, Andy and Rachel.
