Kurt Anderson is one of the finest basketball players to ever wear the colors of Heidelberg College.

His talents on the hardcourt for the Student Princes are still remembered today as his 47 points in a single game is still in the record book as the top individual performance of all time.

Born in Youngstown in 1958, Anderson attended and graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1977 and his talents were apparent both on and off the basketball court.

While in high school he was the Most Improved Player as a junior and Most Valuable Player as a senior. He led the conference in scoring and rebounding and was second at the foul line and from the field his senior year percentage-wise.

During his high school career he established a conference record of 34 straight from the foul line. He was All-Conference first team and special mention All-Ohio. Head coach John Hill knew the day Anderson came to Heidelberg College that he had one of the very best to ever play for the Student Princes.

Before graduating with a B.A. in Business and Computer Sciences in 1981 with a 3.4 grade point average, Anderson would prove Hill right.

In 1981 he received the Hoernemann Award.

Elected to the Homecoming Court his senior year, Anderson was a four- year starter for the Student Princes and served as the team captain two seasons. He received the Comstock Award as the Most Valuable Player in 1980 and again in 1981.

Anderson moved up the Ohio Athletic Conference ladder during his career as he was selected honorable mention All-OAC as a sophomore, second team his junior season and first team his senior year.

Highlighting his senior year was being named a Great Lakes Region All-American. His soft shooting touch produced some outstanding numbers as he is currently the third top all-time scorer with 1,475 points in 103 games, an average of 14.3.

Anderson canned 51.7 percent of his field goal attempts and 77.3 percent from the foul line. A master of timing, position and jumping, he pulled off 780 rebounds and scored 20 or more points in 22 games and collected 10 or more rebounds in 28 games, including a high of 20.

Anderson is a customer engineer on the AC Rochester/Rochester account within the Automotive Components Group of General Motors.

He and his wife, Nancy, reside in Greece, N.Y.
