Adam Smith is no stranger to Tiffin, Ohio. He is a Tiffin Calvert High School graduate and was a four-year letter winner in both football and basketball at Heidelberg.

In 1994, Smith was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Lee J. Tressel Award winner, which recognizes the league's top defensive back. He also went on to add an All-American First Team nod to his résumé in 1994, which built on his All-American Honorable Mention selection a season earlier. In his senior campaign, Smith garnered NCAA Division III All-North Region First Team accolades. For his career, he was a two-time All-OAC First Team honoree (1993, 1994).

In 1994, Smith finished fourth in the nation with nine interceptions, which stands as a Heidelberg single-season record. Smith finished his career with 190 tackles, including 104 solo stops and 20 interceptions. He also holds the career interception record at 20.

On the hardwood for Heidelberg, Smith earned the Prugh Prize, which recognizes the person who excels all others in leadership and performance in several branches of intercollegiate athletics, one of which is basketball. He earned the team's Captain's Award in 1994 and was honored as the teams Most Valuable Player on two occasions. For his career, Smith recorded 745 career points in a Berg uniform.

Smith continues to call Tiffin home. He is the owner of Camden Falls and Carmella's with his brother, Aaron, and friend, Nick Fabrizio. Within the Tiffin community Smith has started the Tiffin Polar Bear Club, which benefits Financial Assistance for Cancer Treatment (FACT). He also is active with Toys for Tots and is a board member for the Tiffin-Seneca United Way, Terra Community College Foundation and serves as the Vice-President of the Fellows Advisory Council of Heidelberg.
