TIFFIN, Ohio – The Heidelberg University athletics department will host a first-of-its-kind event, the
Girl Power Seminar, in honor of National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The two-day program will include a leadership panel & luncheon for students on campus as well as an all-girls sports camp open to grades K-5. Registration for the camp can be found online at
Bergathletics.com/GirlPower.
Participants who are registered by Jan. 20 will be guaranteed a T-shirt. The student luncheon will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 3, followed by the kids camp on Wednesday, Feb. 4 from 5-8 p.m.
Designed to empower and educate, the camp will give young girls the opportunity to try out a variety of sports, all while interacting with college athletes. Registration is open to girls in grades K-5 for just $25. All participants will get a T-shirt and a pizza dinner.
The three hour slot, on Wednesday, Feb. 4, offers parents enough time for a night out and a happily tired camper at pickup. Registration is open now, through the day of the event.
Hosted in the brand new 110,000 square foot Frann's Fieldhouse, campers will get to experience every playing space it has to offer. Parents and guardians are welcome to enjoy a self-guided tour upon pickup.
Heidelberg University offers numerous women's varsity sports, which include cross country, soccer, volleyball, golf, basketball, STUNT, swimming, wrestling, Esports, track & field, and softball. Additionally, flag football, pickleball, and walleye fishing are club sports.
Proceeding the leadership panel & luncheon, there will also be a blood drive on Monday in Wickham Great Hall from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Members of the public, as well as students are encouraged to give. There will be messaging about healthy donation practices for women and athletes.
