Locked in a tie for the eighth seed in the OAC Women's Basketball Tournament, Heidelberg University and Muskingum University's season came down to a coin toss.

Muskingum head coach Beth Fox called tails.

OAC Commissioner Tim Gleason flipped the coin, which eventually came to rest.

Tails.

And just like that, the season for head coach Marcie Alberts and her team is over.

At the start of the day, Heidelberg had a chance to win the seed outright, but fell to Otterbein 73-45. With the win, the Cardinals clinch the second seed and a bye into the semifinals on Thursday.

Playing in her final game for Heidelberg, lone senior Jordan Ickes (Wooster/Triway) scored a team-high 14 points.

After Otterbein (20-5, 14-4 OAC) got out to a 10 point lead in the first half, the Student Princes battled back. With a Megan Miller (Tiffin/Columbian) layup, Heidelberg (6-19, 2-16 OAC) trailed by four points.

Unfortunately, that was as close as the Student Princes would get.

The Cardinals closed the first half on a 9-2 run and opened the second half on a 16-6 run to take control.

Late in the game, Alberts was able to find playing time for every available player.

Hannah Day led all scorers with 28 points for Otterbein.

After the contest, their attention turned to the fateful 5:30 p.m. conference call that sealed their playoff fate.

The season ends with six wins, their most since the 2008-09 season.
