DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Track & Field team competed at the Division III All Ohio Championship meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The two-day competition highlighted performances by many athletes, and a handful of personal records.
DISTANCE
Joe Brewster kicked off the 2 day meet with a 4th place, PR finish in the 3000m steeplechase (9:40.28).
Freshman
Braden Cinato took 8th in the 10k with a time of 33:16.75.
Vanessa Shanaman ran a 40:33.22 10k on the women's side to place 8th.
SPRINTS / HURDLES
Sophomore standout
Travis Bolden Jr. took 2nd in the 100m with a PR of 10.76 and 6th in the 200m at 22.21.
Emily Valencia also chipped in a personal best in the 400m hurdles to place 8th with a time of 1:09.55.
MID DISTANCE
The men's team put up a strong showing in the 800m. Freshman
James Henderson ran 1:55.88 to take second, followed by
Hudson Black in 8th (1:57.22).
THROWS
Senior
Josiah Brown threw a season best 14.95m to finish 4th in the shot put.
Also finishing 4th was
Cornell Test in the pole vault with a personal best height of 4.55m.
Amelia Lewin led the way for the women's side with a 6th place finish in the shot put at 11.41m. She also finished just shy of scoring in the discus throw with a personal best 35.45m.
Freshman
Isabella Grennell followed Lewin in both events with a 11.24m in shot put (7th) and 35.02m in discus (10th).
Kerry Copenhaver threw a personal best in the javelin throw to claim 7th (32.94m).
RELAYS
The men's 4x100 and 4x400 teams put up strong competition, but fell just short of scoring. The 4x100 team of Bolden, Clerveau, Myers, and Haley finished 9th at 43.69.
The 4x400 team of Haley, Zaffos, Hudson, and Clerveau also took 9th at 3:27.11.
