TIFFIN – The Heidelberg University women's basketball team fell on Senior Day, losing 64-26 to the Otterbein Cardinals.  Prior to the game, the Student Princes honored seniors
Bailey Walter and
Alyssa Martin for their contributions to the program.
Despite playing tenaciously for the full 40 minutes, the Student Princes (2-20, 0-15) struggled to find a rhythm on offense.
In a collaboration between HU and Otterbein, Walter -- who suffered a season-ending injury in late November -- started and scored Heidelberg's first basket of the game.
In the second quarter,
Morgan Altenburger and
Alyssa Martin each found a layup, but Heidelberg ended the half down 33-12 deficit.
Heidelberg was outscored 17-7 in the third. Otterbein repeatedly sent the hosts to the line where they sank 7-of-12.
Otterbein continued their success in the fourth en route to the victory.
Martin finished with five points and eight rebounds.
Heidelberg will travel to John Carroll on Monday for a rescheduled game against the Blue Streaks. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m.
