Quick Synopsis
After picking up their first win on Friday, the Heidelberg University women's basketball team was unable to carry that momentum into the second half of the half-and-home series with Capital University. The Student Princes fell behind early and weren't able to mount a comeback in a 68-53 loss.

Heidelberg was first on the scoreboard with a
Bailey Walters jumper, assisted by
Sadie Chaney. The early momentum was with Capital, however, as the Crusaders led 8-4 with four minutes remaining in the first quarter, and went on a 9-0 run to finish the quarter with a 17-6 lead.
The Student Princes had a rough go in the second quarter. Capital started off with a 13-2 run in the first four minutes, extending their lead to 22 points. Heidelberg regrouped with five straight points from
Kalie Rettos with four minutes left in the half.
Capital, though, carried a 35-15 lead into halftime.
The halftime adjustments for the Student Princes produced a stronger result in the second half. HU opened with a modest 9-6 run, cutting the deficit to 17 with 3:22 to play in the third.
The Crusaders took back the momentum and closed the third on a 12-5 run. The visitors led 53-29 after three.
Although they trailed by as many as 29 in the fourth, Head Coach
Rachel Ferri watched as her team battled to the final whistle. The Berg closed the game on a 20-7 run. Rettos, a freshman, had 11 of the points during the run.

1. Capital's frontcourt had an impressive outing. Forwards Kaylee Cyphers and Gabby Ledbetter combined for 30 points.
2. One day after scoring 44 points in the win, Heidelberg's starters scored 27 points.
