ADA, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team fell on the road against Ohio Northern University. A rough night offensively doomed the Student Princes in the 68-43 loss.
Brooke Beamer led the Student Princes with 17 points, the senior also collected three rebounds and dished out one assist.
The Polar Bears started the game with 10 straight points on their way to a 18-2 run in the first eight minutes of play. The Student Princes were able to get some momentum at the end of the quarter to finish 18-9.
A 12-4 run to start the second quarter brought the Student Princes within one point with a score of 22-2, five minutes into the quarter. Six of the points came from Beamer jump shots. Despite the rally, ONU took a 33-22 lead into halftime.
The halftime lead would be insurmountable for the Student Princes with a final score of 68-43.
In her collegiate debut,
Karlee Mills scored nine points off the bench.
Making her first start in college,
Kalie Rettos grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.
Heidelberg (1-4) will be back in action tomorrow night for a rematch against Ohio Northern (2-3) at home with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
