Frazier's career day not enough for BSB

Box Score

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- A career day from Philip Frazier would not be enough for the Heidelberg University baseball team, as it fell 10-5 at Thomas More College.

In Frazier's first collegiate start, the junior went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI. Matt Psychas and Adam Hershberger contributed two hits each, with Psychas driving in two runs.

The Saints plated a run in the first off HU starter Marc Ochoa with a leadoff homerun to left field.

A two-out double by Psychas in the second put a runner in scoring position for Frazier. In just his fourth at bat of the season, Frazier delivered an RBI single to right field to even the score at 1.

Both teams remained quiet until TMC broke out a six-spot in the bottom of the fourth. A hit by pitch, two singles, and a sac fly gave the Saints their first two runs of the inning. After an RBI double, a two-out, two-run homerun forced Ochoa out of the game.

Conner Pacella recorded the final out of the inning, but not before Thomas More added a run on a throwing error, bringing the score to 7-1 after four.

HU answered with two runs in the fifth. Parker Fronk and Darrin Shirk drew back-to-back walks. Psychas drove in Fronk and Frazier drove in Shirk to cut the TMC lead to 7-3.

Two hit by pitches and a walk loaded the bases for the Saints in the bottom of the frame. After an infield fly, a TMC single through the right side pushed the home team's lead back to six runs.

The Student Princes scored their final two runs of the game in the sixth. A sac fly from Cory Jacobs and a bases loaded walk drawn by Psychas cut the lead to 9-5.

A homerun in the eighth for the Saints capped off the scoring.

Zach Doran pitched 1.2 innings in relief. The freshman gave up just one hit and struck out three.

Despite walking seven hitters, TMC's Ethan Kramer (4-0) earned the victory. Kramer scattered eight hits and five runs over 5.2 innings.

The Berg will have a quick turnaround, as it hosts Ohio Wesleyan tomorrow afternoon for a single game. First pitch at Peaceful Valley is slated for 4 p.m.
