• Batted an even .400 on the year
• Recorded 70 hits in 175 at-bats
• Drove in 48 runs
• Tied a Heidelberg school record with seven triples on the season
• Finished the year with 13 doubles and three home runs
• Recorded a .606 slugging percentage
• Went 13-of-15 on stolen base attempts
• Named academic All-OAC

2013

• Played in 29 games and started 21 for the Berg
• Batted .303 with 89 plate appearances, 27 hits, one double, three triples and two home runs
• Drove in 18 runs
• Finished the season with a .449 slugging percentage

 High School

• Two-time varsity letter winner as a member of the Golden Bears football team
• Added three more varsity letters as a member of the baseball team
• Helped lead Bryan High School baseball team to a Northwest Ohio Athletic League championship in 2010, 2011 and 2012
• As a football player, Derek received second team All-NWOAL and honorable mention all-district honors in 2010
• As a senior, he earned first team All-NWOAL, first team all-district and all-state honorable mention
• Earned honorable mention All-NWOAL and all-district in 2010 as a member of the baseball team
• Received second team All-NWOAL and honorable mention all-district selections in 2011
• Earned second team all-state, first team All-NWOAL and first team all-district as a senior outfielder
• Outstanding Scholar Athlete award all four years in football and baseball respectively
