DELAWARE, Ohio – The Heidelberg University volleyball team kicked off their 2026 campaign on the road against Ohio Wesleyan University and came away with a 3-1 win. Shrugging off a sluggish start, HU rallied to win, 17-25, 25-18, 27-25, 25-18.
Soraya Jackson made her long-awaited debut for The Berg, picking up a team-high 13 kills on a .344 attack. Freshman
Emily Miller added 12 kills and
Sophia Simon picked up 11 -- hitting .450.
Olivia Miller had 20 assists and
Maddie Reed registered 18.
Defensively,
Kailee Rank had a team-best 24 digs while
Emily Miller had 15 and
Reagan Davis had 12.
Maya Beck led HU with seven total blocks.
In the critical third set, HU trailed 20-14 before storming back. Kills from Jackson and Rank clinched the set and helped propel HU to victory.
The Student Princes will return home to host the Great Lakes Crossover Tournament, at Frann's Fieldhouse. The event will run from Friday, the 4th, through Saturday, the 5th. The women will play Hiram at 3 p.m. on Friday, followed by Allegheny at 7. They'll return to the court Saturday at 9 a.m. to battle Case Western.
