TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University Women's Wrestling team wrapped up their inaugural season at NCAA Regionals, hosted by Tiffin University.
Audrey Miracle, wrestling at 110 pounds, was unable to advance to nationals on Saturday.
On Saturday, she opened up with a loss to Otterbein's Kellie Kennedy.
In the first year of competition, Miracle led HU with 21 wins. Of those victories, 15 came via pins. In all HU had 14 wrestlers compete in year one.
"We made great strides as individuals and as a program in our first year," said Head Coach
CarrieAnn Randolph. "I'm proud of the way we represented Heidelberg and I look forward to making more progress next year."
FROM FRIDAY:
Competing at 110 pounds, Miracle lost her opening round match and moved to the consolation bracket. There, she battled Albion's Gabriella Motz and went up 2-0 with an early takedown. Motz responded with a takedown and two nearfall points -- but appeared to injure her midsection in the process. Motz tried to continue, but as the two continued to grapple, she had to bow out due to injury. Miracle, the aggressor in the match, advanced to Saturday.
Madi Allen (131), Lex Satterfield (138) and
Adi Kramer (180) all went 0-2 on Friday.
