Men's Wrestling 2026-27 Preview

11/2/2026 2:19:00 PM

The Heidelberg University Men's Wrestling team is ready to hit the mats for the 2026-27 season. After finishing 5-8, 3-3 in the OAC last year, the 34 deep roster hopes to keep building and improve the record.

THE COACHES

Head coach Tony Patrizi enters into his 13th season at the helm of the program. The Heidelberg Alum led four wrestlers to finish top eight at the NCAA region IV tournament, nine athletes to academic All-OAC laurels, and three wrestlers to NWCA scholar All-American honors (team finishing fifth nationally), last year alone.

The team welcomes back assistant coach Ryan Moore for his second season at Heidelberg.

Heidelberg also welcomes volunteer assistant coach Eric Trukovich to the program. He brings with him 15 years of coaching experience across various levels of competition. Trukovich previously coached at Galion High School, where he developed 12 OHSAA state qualifiers, and 9 placers.

THE ROSTER

The team returns Academic All-American Drew Miller (149) for his final season. Miller has ended all three past seasons with winning records, 20-15, 13-10, 14-6. The dual-athlete enters his fourth season with 47 career wins, eager to lead on and off the mat.

Travis Richardson also enters his senior season, wrestling at 165. The Brighton, Michigan native recorded 19 wins as a junior, tallying six falls.

The remaining seniors returning are Brenden Yob (125), Khelei Tillman (197), and Carter Mock (165).

Junior Colin Hering, wrestling at 133, returns from his standout sophomore season. In his second year, Hering tallied 23 wins, including four falls and five major decisions.

Manny Aller also enters his third season, after recording a .524 win percentage last season at 184.

Austin Dipzinski (174) and Josh Cornell (133) finished their freshman seasons with positive records (16-14, 14-11), and look forward to guiding the newcomers to success.

The roster consists of 11 freshmen, seven sophomores, 11 juniors, and five seniors.

THE SCHEDULE

The Student Princes will kick off the 2026-27 season on the road to University Heights, Ohio. The dual versus John Carroll will be held on Nov. 3rd, starting at 7 p.m.
