Berg goes toe-to-toe with Wilmington

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team went toe-to-toe with Wilmington on Saturday afternoon, but a late surge by the Quakers lifted Wilmington to a 66-60 win at Seiberling Gymnasium.

The game was tight from the opening tip, featuring 11 ties and 15 lead changes. Heidelberg held a slim 29-27 advantage at halftime and continued to battle through a back-and-forth third quarter that ended knotted at 46-46.

Wilmington gained momentum early in the fourth quarter, opening the period with an 8-0 run to take a 54-46 lead. Heidelberg responded with key buckets down the stretch, cutting the deficit to just one possession multiple times, but Wilmington sealed the game at the free-throw line in the final minute.

Emma Crow paced the Student Princes with 10 points off the bench, including a pair of three-pointers, netting a career high. Tori See led all Heidelberg scorers with 14 points, while Mya Jones added nine points and a team-high nine rebounds in the effort. Heidelberg shot 43.6 percent from the field and outrebounded Wilmington 42-37.

Heidelberg will look to build on this strong performance next week as they face Muskingum Tuesday night at home. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
