BETHANY, W.Va. -- The Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team showed flashes of growth Wednesday evening but ultimately fell, 82–56, on the road at Bethany in a non-conference contest.
Despite the setback, the evening featured two major individual milestones for the Student Princes.
Olivia Nolting and
Brenna Williams each recorded career-high scoring performances, providing bright spots for Heidelberg throughout the contest.
Williams was dominant in the paint, pouring in a career-best 22 points while hauling down 14 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. She finished 9-for-18 from the floor and was a consistent presence around the rim on both ends. Nolting added a career-high 13 points, knocking down five field goals.
Bethany used pressure defense and transition opportunities to build separation early, forcing turnovers that turned into points the other way.
Heidelberg battled on the glass, finishing with a 52–37 rebounding advantage, but struggled to overcome 37 turnovers on the night.
Malia Mizeres and
Tori See both grabbed 10 boards.
The Student Princes showed resilience late, winning the fourth quarter 19–18 and continuing to fight through the final horn.
Heidelberg will close out the calendar year at home on Saturday. The women's game against Muskingum is slated for a 3 p.m. start, and will officially tip off 30 minutes after the conclusion of the men's game.
