TIFFIN -- Despite a career-high 20-point effort from freshman Emily Valencia, the Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team fell to Capital, 75-62. The Comets led the contest wire-to-wire, but Heidelberg closed the game on a 12-3 run.
Heidelberg slipped to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in OAC action on the season. Capital improved to 5-0, 1-0.
Valencia's 20 points was boosted by a 12-for-15 performance from the line. She was 4-for-8 from the floor. Morgan Altenburger was the other Student Prince in double figures, finishing with 12.
The Comets held a modest 18-12 lead after the first quarter, but held HU scoreless over the first five minutes of the second. Capital led 46-22 at halftime.
Heidelberg outscored the visitors in the third and fourth quarters, chopping a 32-point Capital lead down to 13 by game's end.
Altenburger and Ashley Ballard each had seven rebounds. Emma Keto had four assists.
The 'Berg are back in action Saturday, December 7th as the first part of a doubleheader versus Muskingum University. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m.
