DELAWARE, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Swim teams competed at the two-day Corbiere-Merion Invitational, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University. The women took fourth for the second year in a row while the men improved one spot over 2023, taking fifth.
Highlights of the event included
Elli Mayer's win in the 50-yard freestyle. She swam a 25.24, winning by 0.12. The women's 200-yard free relay took second, with Mayer,
Mackenzie Hoffman,
Haley Damron and
Delaney Buxton teaming up for a time of 1:45.88.
Hoffman was third in the 1650-yard freestyle, touching the wall in 21:18.60.
The women finished with 386.5 points, a year-to-year improvement of nearly 50 points. After picking up 98 points at the Corbiere-Merion Invitational in their inaugural season, the men's side scored 249 points -- besting Hanover College, a team in its seventh year.
Heidelberg returns to the pool on Dec. 7, serving as host of a trimeet with Baldwin Wallace and Bluffton. Action at the Tiffin YMCA is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
