Swim makes a splash at last home meet of the season

TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Swim team turned in a strong performance in a swim meet against Wittenberg. The women earned a 106-74 victory, while the men also picked up a win, 76-51.

On the women's side, Elli Mayer claimed first in the 50 fly and added second-place finishes in the 50 free and 100 fly. Delaney Buxton picked up a win in the 50 free and placed second in the 100 free.

Courtney Kaye earned first in the 200 IM and finished second in the 400 IM, while Virginia Dabrunz took first in the 100 back and placed second in the 50 back. Addison Fortney touched first in the 100 free and added a third-place finish in the 50 free. Mackenzie Hoffman won the 500 free.

Cassy Connare placed second in both the 50 and 100 breaststroke, while Hannah Robinson finished third in the 200 IM and 400 IM. Hannah Cormican earned third-place finishes in the 50 back and 100 breast, and Riley Mullin placed third in the 50 breast.

On the men's side, Andrey Pilipchuk swept both of his events, winning the 50 free and 50 fly. Lance Koch added two more victories with first-place finishes in the 200 IM and 400 IM.

Evan Eaglin touched first in the 100 free and finished third in the 50 free, while Caleb Owens earned a win in the 50 back. Zach MacDonald rounded out the scoring with second-place finishes in both the 50 free and 50 fly.

The Student Princes are back in the water Wednesday, February 18 for the OAC Championship in Akron.
