TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University Women's Basketball team was unable to carry the momentum of a tremendous first half for a full 40 minutes, falling to visiting Capital University, 78-65. Heidelberg had four players finish in double figures, led by
Emma Keto's career-high 17 points.
Chloe Gilbert matched her uniform number with 13 points on the night.
Morgan Altenburger and
Amari Slaughter each had 11.
Heidelberg slipped to 3-11 overall. Capital improved to 10-4.
Slaughter was unstoppable early, buying three 3-pointers as HU built a 13-4 lead. The Comets regrouped and led 25-19 after the first.
A 13-2 run for the Student Princes to start the second put HU up 32-27. Heidelberg outscored Capital in the period, 17-7, and led 36-32 at the break.
The Comets turned the tables on The Berg in the third, outscoring the hosts, 26-9.
The teams were even in the fourth, as Capital withstood Heidelberg's comeback bid.
