Box Score NEW CONCORD, Ohio – On Saturday, the Heidelberg women's basketball team traveled to Muskingum to cap off OAC play before the new year. Battling the fast-paced Muskies, The Berg fell 76-47.
Heidelberg dropped to 3-6 (0-4 OAC) while the Muskies improved to 4-6 (1-3 OAC).
Chloe Gilbert put up the first HU points with a nifty behind-the-back floater. During the next possession,
Emma Keto pulled up with a nice jumper.
Morgan Altenburger would make the last basket before Muskingum outmatched The Berg 28-7 in the first.
Heidelberg managed to hold the opponents to 15 in the second, putting up 14 of their own where
Kami Whiteaker, Gilbert and
Amari Slaughter each had one from deep.
Ashley Ballard put up two more with eight seconds left to send them into the half down 43-21.
Gilbert,
Cheyanne Bean, Slaughter and Keto all scored in the third as the Muskies put up 21 to Heidelberg's 11. The Student Princes enjoyed a late surge, outscoring the Muskies 15-12 in the fourth. Not enough, the conference foes walked off with a 76-47 victory.
Gilbert led with nine points, while Slaughter and Altenburger each tallied eight.
Muskingum's Claudia Harrington shot a blistering 76% from the field for 20 points.
The women's basketball team will be back in action on Dec. 29 and 31 as they travel to Delaware for the Bishop Classic Hoops for Hope, facing Albion and Ohio Wesleyan.
