TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team was tripped up by visiting Wilmington College on Alumni Day, falling 61-47.
Elisha Carter had a team-high 13 points and
Hallie Rogers added 10 to pace the offense.
A couple of banked-in buckets for Wlmington allowed the Quakers to open up a nine-point lead in the first quarter. The visitors were boosted by seven points off the bench by Zahrya Bailey. Rogers had six points in the period for the Student Princes, who trailed 21-12 after one.
Heidelberg outscored the opponent by one in the second. Carter led with four points as five Student Princes contributed to the spurt. Over the last three minutes Rogers and Ballard each found a layup, while Carter buried a 3-pointer to top off the 7-0 run. At halftime, Heidelberg trailed 32-24.
The third consisted of back-and-forth action from both teams. Altenburger started it out nailing two from the charity stripe and later picking up a jumper.
Cheyanne Bean tallied three free throws of her own. Heading into the fourth Wilmington still controlled the game, 48-37.
Carter picked up five points over a minute of gameplay in the fourth. HU seemed unable to find a rhythm throughout and unfortunately turned in a 61-47 loss.

Cheyanne Bean gathered a game-high 10 rebounds.
Prior to the men's varsity game, more than a dozen former women's basketball players participated in the annual alumni game -- and more than 20 additional former players were in attendance at tip-off of the women's varsity game.
Heidelberg heads out on the road on Wednesday, traveling to John Carroll. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
