SPRINGFIELD -- With a late equalizer by the host, the Heidelberg University women's soccer was forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at Wittenberg on a muggy Saturday afternoon.
Bekah Thomas had the goal for Heidelberg. In the 48th minute, the senior from California took a feed from
Megan Hamilton and broke the scoreless tie with her first goal of the young season.
Heidelberg held the slim lead into the 86th minute. There, Ashley Green knotted the game with a goal assisted by Brooke Mullis.
The Student Princes held a narrow 12-10 edge in shots, but the Tigers enjoyed a 5-4 edge in shots on goal.
Meredith Bruce made four saves in the tie.
Heidelberg (0-1-1) will host Defiance at Hoernemann Stadium on Wednesday. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
