Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Kauf-Mania! Audrey's hat-trick lifts Berg

TIFFIN, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University women's soccer team scored early and often in a big 6-1 victory over Geneva College on Saturday.

Heidelberg improved to 4-1 while the Golden Tornadoes fell to 1-4. This was their fourth straight win on the season. At 4-1, the Student Princes are off their best start through five games since 2000.

The Student Princes wasted no time getting to work. Just 24 seconds into the game, Madi Lause scored the first goal, assisted by Victoria Perez

Four shots later, Audrey Kaufman kicked the second goal of the game in the 18th minute.

After some Tornado substitutions in the 24th minute, Lexi Foley knocked in the third goal for the Student Princes.

Closing in on the Geneva goalie, a pass from Perez gave Kaylee Cobb a straight shot. Cobb's first collegiate goal put The Berg up 4-0, a lead they carried into halftime.

With a slow start to the second half, the sun got to the home team as they played aggressive and drew two yellow cards.

Soon after, Kaufman sped down the field to score her second goal of the game. Then eight minutes later, with the help of Riley Ireland, she earned yet another goal. The three goals brought her season total up to eight.

This was the second hat trick for the Student Princes this season, with Kaufman joining Lause's four-goal effort against Olivet.

The Student Princes held off the Golden Tornadoes for the last six minutes of the game to finish their victory. Heidelberg dominated the game offensively, outshooting Geneva 30-10.

HU goalkeeper Meredith Bruce finished with four saves on the day.

Heidelberg will be back in action Wednesday evening at Hiram College. The match is set for a 7:30 p.m. start.
