ALLIANCE, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University women's basketball team dropped a conference tussle at the University of Mount Union on Saturday. The high-pressure Purple Raiders defense posed problems for the Student Princes all afternoon, as the hosts won 74-44.
Hallie Rogers hit three 3-pointers and finished with a team-high 13 points.
Bailey Walter had eight points and 11 rebounds.
Heidelberg (1-7, 0-2) got behind early, trailing by 11 after one. Mount Union (2-2, 1-1 OAC) maintained the intensity in the second quarter, expanding their lead to 16 at intermission.
After a rough third quarter, the youthful Student Princes had their best quarter in the fourth. Led by six points from both
Lily Sweeney and Rogers, HU registered 18 points in the period.
Melanie Koenig had six points and eight rebounds off the bench.
Mount Union had three in double figures, highlighted by a double-double from Isi Palamone.
Heidelberg will return to action next Saturday as part of a doubleheader against Wilmington. The women's game will begin at 2 p.m.
