Box Score TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team extended its winning streak to five games with a 3-0 sweep of Capital University at home on Tuesday. The Student Princes handled the Crusaders 25-16, 25-23, 25-15.
Heidelberg improves to 19-8 overall, 7-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. Cap fell to 5-21, 1-7.
KEY STATS
Sarah Parker led the way offensively for HU with a game-high 16 kills. Janessa Scott chipped in with eight.
Setter Karlie DiRuzza finished the night with 38 assists.
Defensively, Rachel Raimondo flew around the court for 11 digs. Mariah Sullivan was part of a game-high three blocks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The visitors jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Heidelberg recovered quickly and tied it at 5. Teams traded points until Heidelberg broke away with a 14-5 run to close out the set.
Capital never held the lead in the second set, but they hung around long enough to cause consternation from HU head coach Jason Miller. Knotted at 23, HU took the final two points thanks to attack errors by Capital.
The Tricolor played a dominant third set, jumping out to a 4-0 lead and never looking back. Parker tapped the ball into open space on the floor for the final point.
Heidelberg attacked at a .330 clip while holding the Crusaders to .133.

Head coach Jason Miller on the win: "I'm happy with the win ... I wish we would've played better in set two."
Miller on moving forward: "We have a tough weekend ahead of us finishing OAC play and with Ohio Wesleyan coming here Saturday ... We are going to direct our focus to those games."

The Student Princes host a tri-match on Saturday with Wilmington and Ohio Wesleyan. HU will clash with the Quakers at 1 p.m. Wilmington and OWU will play the 3 p.m. match. Heidelberg closes out the day with a 5 p.m. match against OWU.
