Volleyball rallies against Marietta, sweeps West Liberty

MARIETTA, Ohio – Heidelberg University volleyball extended its winning streak to a season-high six matches with a pair of wins on Saturday.

In the first match, host Marietta stormed out to a two-set lead, 22-25 and 17-25. After attacking at a .140 clip during the first two sets, the Student Princes rebounded to win the final three sets, 25-20 25-16 15-6. During the three-set run, Heidelberg attacked at .414.

Senior Amber Welfle loaded the stat sheet with 13 kills, 12 digs, seven blocks and three aces. Freshman Sarah Parker had a match-high 17 kills for Heidelberg.

After a short rest, Heidelberg (10-9, 2-0 OAC) swept NCAA Division II foe West Liberty University, 25-15 25-16 25-11.

Parker added another 15 kills against the Hilltoppers.

Heidelberg will look to stay perfect in the OAC on Tuesday, as they host Capital for a 7 p.m. match. The match can be seen on the Berg Athletics Network by visiting www.heidelberg.edu/ban.
