TIFFIN – The Heidelberg University Men's Basketball team wrapped up the first half of the OAC slate with a resounding 92-70 win over visiting Baldwin Wallace on Wednesday.
Heidelberg had five players in double figures, led by a career-high 17 points from freshman
Carter Pleiman.
Isaiah Young, the subject of a profile on D3hoops.com released today, had 15 points.
Tre Watkins and
Zachary Chatmon both had 13 points while
Markell Johnson-Nichols added 11.
Eric Panning's season-long string of 15 straight double-doubles came to an end. A slow first half led to a seven-point, seven-rebound performance.
The Student Princes surged ahead midway through the first half, using a 10-2 run to take a 37-28 lead. Baldwin Wallace got to within six with 2:03 to play. Undaunted, Heidelberg closed the half with a 9-0 run, propelled by five points from Watkins.
Heidelberg led 50-35 at the break.
Each team dialed up three 3-pointers in the first eight minutes of the second half. The Student Princes were able to fend off every BW attempt to claw back into the contest.
The Student Princes would pull away late in the second half, extending their lead to as many as 29.

Amil Jenkins had 10 rebounds as HU won the battle on the glass, 46-34 … Heidelberg shot 48.5% from the floor, their best effort since shooting 53.3% against Ohio Northern in December … Chatmon was 4-for-4 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the line.
