TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University volleyball team opened conference action with a sweep of Wilmington College on Saturday.  A total of 18 Student Princes saw action in the 25-3, 25-9, 25-17 sweep of the Quakers.

The Berg has won seven straight and moved to 14-5 overall.  Wilmington dropped to 5-13.

Laura Schrag inked her name into the OAC record book with an outstanding first set.  Her hitting percentage (8 kills, 0 errors, 10 attacks -- .800) is the fifth-best single-game attack percentage with a minimum of 10 attempts.

The 25-3 score in the first set is believed to be the fewest points allowed by Heidelberg in the rally-scoring era (since 2001).  Heidelberg attacked at a .609 clip, with 14 kills and no errors. Conversely, the visitors struggled -- hitting -.222.

Because of the number of substitutions, no Heidelberg player tallied more than 10 kills.  Of the 18 Student Princes who entered the game, 14 registered at least one kill. In a first, seniors Sydney Moore (a defensive specialist who only plays in the back row) and right side Morgan Strenk (one of several starters that only played part of the first set) had identical offensive stat lines -- one kill on one attack.

Anna McNabb dished up 31 assists and tallied 12 digs.  Taylor Arbogast recorded 18 digs in the victory.

Maddie Szawranskyj served up six aces.

OAC action continues Tuesday at Heidelberg hosts winless Capital for a 7 p.m. match.
