TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 setback at the hands of Baldwin Wallace University at home on Wednesday afternoon.

With the loss, the Student Princes fall to 6-7-1 overall and 1-3 in the OAC. Baldwin Wallace improved to 7-5-1, 1-3.

Rachel Bender was involved in all three Yellow Jacket goals, picking up two assists and scoring the team's second goal just before halftime.

BW controlled much of the early going, eventually breaking the Berg defense in the 38th minute as Bender served a ball to Olivia Kane who dispatched the one-time finish. Just a minute and 45 seconds later, Bender lined up for a corner kick. Her service eluded all players and snuck into the near post doubling the Yellow Jacket lead.

After the half, Heidelberg controlled the offensive tempo, registering 14 second-half shots. Unfortunately, the Student Princes found themselves down 3-0 as Bender and Cassandra Waickman combined to set up Kaitlin McGuire for a one-time finish near the penalty spot. The shot proved to be BW's only second-half attempt.

The Berg did find a consolation goal, as Amanda Nething drew a foul at the top of the box 19 yards out from goal. Maddy Hines stepped up and smashed a low shot past Emma Bruno -- her first goal of the season.

Alexandra Farmer registered three saves for Heidelberg on the afternoon. Bruno was forced into seven stops for the Yellow Jackets.

The Student Princes hit the road for a 1 p.m. kickoff in Westerville at Otterbein University on Saturday, October 13.
