TIFFIN -- On a brisk February afternoon at Hoernemann Stadium, the Heidelberg University women's lacrosse team dropped their season-opening game to Kenyon College.  Kenyon upended the Student Princes, 20-1.

The visiting Ladies of Kenyon (1-0) jumped out to an early lead after just 1:05 of play when Avery Morgan scooped in for an early goal.

Kenyon continued their early control, finishing off 13 goals before the break.

However, the Student Princes netted their first tally of the season with 1:30 remaining before the halftime intermission. Jen Kovarik scooped up a ground ball and completed the clear. Kovarik then transitioned the ball forward before finding Angela Lulejian. Last year's leading scorer dispatched the ball on a quick, low shot.

The second half proceeded much in favor of the visitors as Kenyon tacked on an additional seven goals in the final 30 minutes.

Anna Winnicki led the Student Princes with five ground balls on the afternoon. Alexandra Farmer was close behind for HU with four.

Sophomore goalie Jessica Ballow (0-1) started in goal for the Berg and stopped 11 shots. Freshman Kelly Spence made her debut in between the pipes, tallying five saves on just eight shots faced.

The Student Princes will be back in action at Hoernemann Stadium in 10 days as they welcome Ohio Wesleyan University to Tiffin for a 7 p.m. start time.
