AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- Senior Wes Fritz saw early success in 2019 as he was named the OAC Field Athlete of the Week for his efforts at the Findlay Open.
Fritz, a native of Norwalk, Ohio, picked up a second and fifth place finish among a strong field of NCAA Division II and Division III opponents at the University of Findlay on Saturday afternoon.
A 2018 Indoor and Outdoor All-OAC honoree, Fritz leaped an impressive 2.03m in the high jump during his first competition of the season. His jump was second only to NCAA DII All-American Myles Pringle of Ashland University. The jump on short approach also currently ranks #4 in NCAA DIII.

The award is Fritz's first career athlete of the week selection.
Fritz will return to the jump pads on Saturday, January 19th at the IPFW Mastodon Invitational in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
