BEXLEY, Ohio -- The trek through the OAC gauntlet yielded another loss for the Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team. Capital stayed unbeaten in conference play with a 20-8 victory over the Student Princes on Wednesday.

Liam Weaver scored a team-high three goals and added an assist as The Berg dropped to 5-8 overall, 2-3 in the OAC.

Capital (11-1, 5-0) took a 4-0 lead before Brock Hodson scored a man-up goal on a feed from Alex Bruder. Two minutes later, Patrick McCarthy scored to make it 4-2.

Unfortunately, the rally was extremely short-lived. Capital's Tyler Faig scored eight seconds after McCarthy, igniting a five-goal run for the hosts.

Hunter Edwards stopped the bleeding with a goal midway through the second quarter.

The Crusaders put up three more goals before Bruder capped the first half scoring with a man-up goal assisted by Weaver.

Down 12-4 at intermission, HU allowed three goals to CAP's CJ Hughes to start the third. Bruder found the back of the net at the 9:14 mark Weaver scored later, fed by Jacob White, but Heidelberg trailed 19-6 after three.

Weaver scored twice in the fourth quarter as Heidelberg outscored Capital 2-1 in the final period.

Goaltender Connor Reese made 12 saves on 32 shots. Ryan Sinnema caused three turnovers.

Mount Union (4-7, 2-3) visits Hoernemann Stadium for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday. Prior to the contest, Heidelberg will honor the contributions of seniors Christian Hieronymus, Ty Garrett and Jacob White.
