TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University men's lacrosse team is still in search of its first home victory, as the team fell to Alma College on a frigid Wednesday evening, 18-5. The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for HU.
Matt Wernerspach scored all five goals for the Student Princes, bringing his season total to 13.
Heidelberg dropped to 2-3 overall while Alma improved to 4-2.
The Scots led 6-1 after the first quarter, capped by a pair of goals eight seconds apart.
After a high-scoring opening period, a calm second quarter saw the Scots head to the locker room with an 8-2 lead.
Alma outscored HU 4-3 in the third and scored all six goals in the final 15 minutes.
Junior goalie Man Rennillo (2-3) tallied 15 saves on the evening.
Wernerspach and Chris Storrs each picked up six ground balls. Storrs caused two turnovers in the loss.
Nick Selfridge tallied two assists and picked up three ground balls.
Alma outshot the Berg 67-22. Bryce Bohrmann paced the Scots with eight goals and one assist. Chase Hunyadi scored four goals and recorded four assists.
The Student Princes return to action this Saturday when they host Adrian College (1-3). Game time at Hoernemann Stadium is slated for 1 p.m.
