ALBION, Michigan -- The Heidelberg University men's basketball fell to 0-2 on the season after dropping a Tuesday evening road contest at Albion College, 97-85.
Albion (4-1) stormed back, eventually building a 10-point lead. A Jimmy Hanley free throw and two threes by Prewitt cut the lead to 34-31, but Albion re-established control of the half, twice reaching additional 10-point leads. Juwan Perry nailed a three-quarter quart heave to end the half, sending the game to the break, 46-36 in favor of the Britons.
Prewitt nearly collected his second straight double-double by halftime scoring 14 points and hauling down seven boards in the first 20 minutes.
A slow start to the second half put the Student Princes in even a deeper hole, as Albion increased their lead to 18, led by eight points by Jamezell Davis.
The Student Princes made periodic dents in the Albion lead closing the gap as close as eight points late on, but could not muster a full comeback.
Watkins and Woods also were busy distributing the ball. Watkins dished out a game-high seven assists and Woods was close behind with six.
Defensively for the Student Princes, Prewitt collected his double-double with 12 boards. Hanley tallied two blocks and a steal. Woods nabbed two steals. Davey Hipp collected two steals as well.
Davis led the Britons with a game-high 31 points. Jaylin Fordham complemented the Albion offense with 18 points.
Heidelberg will tip-off their 2018 home schedule on Saturday, November 24 at 3 p.m. vs. Bluffton University.
