RICHMOND, Indiana -- With a 6-5 win over Earlham College on Thursday, the Heidelberg University baseball team won its fourth-straight contest. Matt Psychas had a three-hit afternoon, including a double and a home run, to lead the 'Berg offense.

With the start of Ohio Athletic Conference action upcoming, the Student Princes improved to 10-3 on the season. Earlham dropped to 14-4.

Parker Fronk singled and moved to third on a Psychas double to start the second inning. Both scored when Kyle Slovick reached on an error. After Marc Ochoa singled, Darrin Shirk singled home Slovick to give HU a 3-0 lead.

In the third, Ochoa lifted a sacrifice fly to right, plating Fronk.

Down 4-0, the Quakers got them all back with an outburst in the bottom of the third off of Sam Ankrom. Ankrom (2-1) went a full five innings, allowing five runs on seven hits. He walked two and struck out seven.

Heidelberg regained the lead in the next inning. Joey Rydzewski singled and scored on a two-out double by Evan Long.

Up 5-4, Psychas led off the fifth with his homer, a blast to the right of Earlham's Maroon Monster in left field.

Fleet-footed Marc Gendreau helped the Quakers score their final run in the bottom of the fifth. He swiped two bags and scored on a single.

After Ankrom's departure, Alex Sir Louis, Eric Hooper and Anthony Hajdu worked a scoreless six, seventh and eighth.

In the bottom of the ninth, Joey Wenning allowed a lead off walk to the speedy Gendreau. On a sacrifice bunt attempt, Wenning spun and fired to second to force out Gendreau for the first out. On a slow tapper to the left of the mound, catcher Joe Walton made a terrific play to get an out at first. With two down, Wenning struck out Addison Robertson, picking up his third save of the year.

Weather permitting, Heidelberg is scheduled to open up OAC play on Saturday with a doubleheader at ohio Northern University. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
