Women's Soccer Falls to Wilmington

WILMINGTON, Ohio -- The Heidelberg University Women's Soccer team fought back from an early Wilmington goal, but could not find the back of the net after their 49th minute goal. The 90 minutes ended in a 4-1 loss, moving the Student Princes to 3-7 overall, and 0-1 in the OAC.

Wilmington put themselves on the board first in the sixth minute. The 'Berg managed to hold them off for the remainder of the first half.

Once the second half began, the Student Princes responded. Four minutes into the second, Heidelberg took a throw in on their attacking third. Brianna Braatz headed the ball off of entry, and Harper Danze found it at the top of the box. Using her right foot, wide open, she buried the ball into the lower left corner of the net.

The Quakers went on to score three more in the remainder of the second half. Berg was unable to comeback, despite outshooting Wilmington 15-12.

Maddi Springer recorded 90 minutes in goal and six saves in the match.

The Student Princes stay on the road for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 7 traveling to Capital University. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Bexley.
