Starter
Haley Gockstetter was superb, throwing a complete game, five-hit shutout. The freshman struck out six and walked one.
The offense provided Gockstetter with support early.
Sammie Trimpey slapped a single to short to lead off the bottom of the first. After stealing second, she moved to third on a groundout by
Leah Arnett. With two outs,
Gabbie Stallbaum lined an RBI single through the left side.
In the second,
Aubrey Conklin walked and
Jade Torres reached on a bunt single. With the bases loaded, the second baseman threw home on a grounder, but the catcher pulled her foot off the plate too early, allowing a run to score. Later, with two outs and runners on second and third, the Tigers elected to pitch to Stallbaum. The OAC's leader in runs batted in picked up two more with a check swing single through the five-six hole, plating Trimpey and Arnett.
The Student Princes added three in the fifth when Arnett lined a bases-clearing double over the head of the left fielder.
The Tigers had a runner on third in the seventh, but Gockstetter preserved the shutout with a strikeout to end the contest.
