ADRIAN -- The Heidelberg University Softball team dropped a doubleheader at non-conference Adrian College on Monday, falling 7-2 in the opener and 10-2 in the nightcap.
Murissa Drown and
Gabbie Stallbaum both had three hits on the afternoon.
Adrian scored all seven runs in the opener in the first two innings. Heidelberg answered with single runs in the fourth and fifth -- plating runs on a
Jade Torres sacrifice fly and a Drown single.
The Bulldogs led 6-0 in the sixth inning of the second game.
Ellie Tressler doubled to the gap, then scored on Stallbaum's 10th home run of the season. Adrian ended the game with four in the bottom of the inning.
Stallbaum is only the third player in program history to reach the 10-homer milestone in a season, joining Ashley Foust (12 in 2006) and hall of famer Jadie Wheeler (11 in 1999). For her career, Stallbaum's 17 career longballs puts her in a three-way tie for fifth, joining Casey Moore (2017-2020) and Foust (2005-2008). Mikaela Mitsch (2013-2016) holds the program record with 29.
The Student Princes return to action for a Wednesday Dems-day showdown with John Carroll -- featuring Heidelberg's
Caitlin Dems hosting her sister, JCU's Kristin Dems. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Frann's Field.
