CINCINNATI -- Outshooting the hosts by a +50 margin, the Heidelberg University Men's Lacrosse team picked up its first win of the season. The Student Princes outshot Mount St. Joseph, 61-11, en route to a 9-5 victory -- the first career win for Head Coach
Ryan Sinnema.
Jacob Brickman and Ben Evans each scored three goals while
Rayce Septer and
Tyler Alexander each picked up a goal and an assist.
Defensively, HU caused 20 turnovers -- five by
Kevin Smith and four by
Jacob Morgan.
Sonny Varrati caused three and picked up a game-high nine ground balls.
Septer won the opening faceoff and, 38 seconds later, gave Heidelberg a 1-0 lead.
Despite peppering the Lions goal with eight shots, the Student Princes weren't able to find the back of the net for the next nine minutes.
Jacob Brickman took a feed from
Jonathan Marty and scored, giving HU a 2-0.
Down 2-0 in the second, MSJ got on the board with a man-up goal. Heidelberg answered four minutes later when
Braxton Hammond found Ben Evans for a tally.
Jacob Brickman scored again, a mere 47 seconds after Evans. Then, in the closing seconds of the half, Brickman completed the hat trick. His third goal of the game, coming with 0:04 left, gave HU a 5-1 lead at the break.
Jacob Murray scored three of MSJ's four goals in the third, but 'Berg goals by
Jacob Morgan and
Tyler Alexander helped the visitors preserve a 7-5 edge.
Evans scored the only two goals of the fourth quarter, completing his hat trick with a man-up goal in the final minute of the game.

Wilson Runnette made one save on the day.
