Box Score TIFFIN – On Saturday afternoon, the Heidelberg University women's soccer team secured their third consecutive win at Hidden Valley. A few players had collegiate firsts and Audrey Kaufman scored two goals – a familiar task for the senior.

With a final score of 4-2, Heidelberg improved to 4-2-2 on the season, while Earlham fell to 2-2-2.

Perhaps underestimating the Quakers, HU allowed an early goal just five minutes into gameplay. Eva Lyon of Earlham dribbled it to the middle and took a close shot, which sailed into the goal for a 1-0 lead.

At the 32-minute mark, a duo of freshmen decided to step up for the Berg. Caitlyn Cross sent a cross over to Baylie Phillips to level the scoreboard 1-1. This was their first collegiate assist and goal.

Heidelberg found some energy in the second half, where they scored three of their four goals.

After five shots on goal, Kaufman was finally able to sneak one past goalie Maddie Coyle to score her fourth of the season. Bekah Thomas had the assist, her seventh career.

Four minutes later, Kaufman made a solo play. As the Student Princes were pressing hard, she stole the ball out of two Quakers' feet right in front of the box and was able to drill it in for another goal – pushing the lead 3-1

With under 15 minutes left, the Heidelberg bench became electric as the fifth-year Courtney Moggio, affectionately nicknamed Coco, scored her first collegiate goal.

A winded 15-player Earlham roster couldn't keep up with the fresh legs of Heidelberg. In total, the Berg outshot them 28-11.

Meredith Bruce was back in goal for Heidelberg, she ended with two saves for the game. She is currently ranked second in the OAC for saves and fifth for goals-against average.

In goal for the Quakers was Coyle, who had the task of taking the bullet on all 16 of HU's shots on goal. In total, she ended with 12 saves.

The Heidelberg University women's soccer team will take a breather this week before they start OAC game play on Saturday, Oct. 1. The game is slated for a 1 p.m. kickoff against Muskingum at the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex.
