TIFFIN -- On Saturday, the Heidelberg University volleyball team hosted conference foe Mount Union. The Berg dropped the first two sets, but were able to force a fifth set. However, the rally fell short, resulting in a 3-2 loss. 

In the first two sets, the Purple Raiders took control and won 25-16 and 25-20. 

Although the Student Princes were in a 2-0 hole, they did not give in and fought back to win the next two sets. 

The third set was back and forth and would see both teams notched at 23. A Lexi Evak kill and an error from the Purple Raiders would allow the home team to take set three 25-23. 

In set four, Heidelberg got off to a quick 3-0 start. With Heidelberg starting to take control of the match at 17-13, Mount Union would rattle off the next three points and cut into the lead 17-16. But The Berg did not break and would rally to win the set 25-21. 

Set five would be dominated by the Purple Raiders resulting in the Heidelberg comeback bid to fall short. 

Two Student Princes notched double digits kills on the day. Ashley Foster led the way with 15 while Anamaya Truex tallied 12. Hannah Walsh and Gabby Wolfe contributed to the comeback, tallying nine and eight kills in the final three sets, respectively.  

On defense, Nicole Thomas led all players with 25 digs. Jeylo Hernandez Rodriguez added 13 of her own in the loss. 

Heidelberg will be back in action on Wednesday as they travel to Ohio Northern University in a mid-week conference clash. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
