Berg women's soccer shutout in season finale

WILMINGTON – The Heidelberg University women's soccer team traveled to Wilmington College for their final game of the season. Berg was unable to come up with a goal, resulting in a 2-0 defeat. 

Heidelberg finishes the season 6-9-2 (2-7 OAC) while Wilmington finishes 10-8-0 (4-5 OAC). 

The first 45 minutes of play saw no goals. Both teams came out with their best on defense. The home team only came up with two shots on goal while the visitors mustered four.

One of the Quakers two shots came in the 36th minute when Jada Pohlen kicked one that would bounce off the top of the post and into Meredith Bruce's hands. The teams would go into the break deadlocked at 0-0. 

Both teams came out of the half looking to get in the scoring column. The home squad did just that in the 66th minute when a deflected ball off the post was followed up by a Quaker and put in the back of the net to make it 1-0. 

Wilmington's second goal would come off a fast break in the 82nd minute that would help seal a 2-0 victory for the Quakers. 

Heidelberg was only able to get one shot on goal in the second half while Wilmington totaled four in the half. 

Bruce tallied four saves in the loss for Heidelberg.
