Springfield, OH – The Heidelberg University volleyball team improved to 7-2 overall with a 3-1 (25-13, 17-25, 25-7, 25-17) win over the Alma College Scots to open the 2021 Wittenberg Fall Classic.

The Berg made quick work of the Scots in the first, 25-13, and Alma rallied to capture the second frame, 25-17. The Student Princes swiftly answered with a dominant 25-7 victory in the third, before closing the match with a commanding 25-17 win.

The Student Princes overpowered Alma offensively, finishing with a .214 team hitting percentage, led by sophomore
Anamya Truex's season-high 11 kill performance. The Wapakoneta native also collected one dig and three block assists against the Scots.

In her collegiate debut, Cuyahoga Falls native,
Hope Cuppett finished with an impressive team-high .700 hitting percentage, eight kills and one dig in two sets of work.Â

Liana Petitti recorded nine kills, a team-high five block assists and seven digs in the win.
Maddie Szawranskyj finished with a match-high five services aces, improving her season total to a team-best 26. The senior Westerville native also collected six digs and six kills in the victory.

The Student Princes tangle with hosts Wittenberg University tomorrow at 12 p.m., followed by a bout with Rose-Hulman at 2 p.m.
