Women's Soccer Drops OAC Opener

WILMINGTON – The Heidelberg University women's soccer team dropped their conference-opener on Saturday, falling 1-0 on the road against Wilmington College.  The loss snapped HU's 7 game winning streak.

The Student Princes dropped to 7-2 on the season, 0-1 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.  Wilmington improved to 4-5-1 (1-0 OAC).

The first half saw the Berg out-shoot the host Quakers 8-5, however neither side was able to find the back of the net as they entered halftime scoreless.

Wilmington held the edge in shots in the second half 9-3 and broke the draw in the 86th minute when the Quakers were able to score a goal to take the lead.

HU was unable to find the equalizer down the stretch as they fell 1-0.

Audrey Kaufman led the Heidelberg attack with five shots, including four on goal.  Meredith Bruce made seven saves in goal.

Heidelberg will look to bounce back on Wednesday, October 6th, when they travel to Bexley to face Capital (2-6-1, 1-0 OAC).  That match is slated to start at 7:00 PM.
