I chose to attend Heidelberg because ...
Honestly, it was one of the few places I considered attending if I even went to college. Something that very few people know about me is that for part of my senior year in high school I was not considering attending college, but rather looking for other things to do with my life. Coach Tony Patrizi's caring persistence during recruiting was a huge reason why I came to Heidelberg in the first place, discovering even more reason to stay once I arrived on campus.

The best part about playing a sport at Heidelberg is ...
Playing a sport at Heidelberg gives you more of a feeling of connectedness with your teammates and the campus as a whole. It allows you to spend a lot of time with other students and gives you somewhat of a mentor for things outside of athletics as well. Many people think that coaches are simply there to coach you in your respective sport, but at Heidelberg, they care about your life just as much, if not more. Having someone to bounce ideas off of and connect you to other people on campus is a little known benefit of being a student-athlete at Heidelberg.

Heidelberg is unique because ...
Heidelberg gives you so many intimate opportunities to grow as a person. Here you can play a role in as many different areas of the campus as you'd like to (or can handle). Throughout my time here I've not only had the opportunity to be a collegiate student-athlete but also be a teaching assistant, HYPE mentor, start a campus organization, and more. The intersectionality of our organizations and opportunities is really what makes Heidelberg unlike many other universities.

My career goal is ...
I am working toward becoming a physician in the future. As of now, I am interested in learning more about gastroenterological medicine, but I know plenty of medical students fall in love with certain areas of medicine while in clinical rotations, so I try not to think so linearly.

Describe your most unique experience at Heidelberg (top internships, study abroad, etc.) ...
My most unique experience at Heidelberg has been working for our Chaplain and Director of Civic Engagement, Paul Stark. I am one of his many student assistants who has been tasked with working with Habitat for Humanity for the past two years. I initially applied for this position with little to no experience in volunteering or serving others but quickly fell in love with Habitat, what it stands for, and living a life centered around others. While holding this position I have had the opportunity to help during our HYPE Third Year Common Experience known as the Blitz build for the first two years of its existence. I have also been able to connect with students to coordinate student volunteers for Seneca County Habitat for Humanity for the past two years, go on two Habitat Collegiate Challenge alternative spring break trips while leading the most recent, and attending multiple Habitat board meetings. While everything that I have done through this experience has been unique and enjoyable, I would say that this experience changed who I was coming into college to who I would like to be throughout the rest of my life. I think that the experiences at Heidelberg allow students to make this transition as they progress throughout their time here.
