Second half surge lifts Student Princes

ANGOLA, Indiana -- Three second-half goals helped the Heidelberg University women's soccer team snap a three-match losing streak.  The Student Princes beat host Trine University, 3-1.

Heidelberg improved to 3-3 with the victory while the Thunder dropped to 2-3-1.

The Thunder helped themselves to an early lead on Courtney Reece's goal in the fifth minute.  Marisa Robinett picked up the assist.

Down 1-0 at halftime, The Berg came alive in the second half.  Freshman Victoria Perez tied the match with a goal in the 48th minute.  A mere 69 seconds later, Erica Campbell put the Tricolor up with another goal (originally miscredited to Amanda Nething).  Both goals were unassisted.

With Trine desperate for an equalizer in the game's final moments, HU tacked on an insurance goal.  Off a feed from Campbell and Madison Zimmerman, Audrey Kaufman scored in the 90th minute.

Goalkeeper Meredith Bruce made four saves in the contest.  The Thunder outshot Heidelberg, 14-9.

After four straight on the road, the Student Princes return home to face Transylvania on Saturday.  The match will start at 1 p.m. at the Hidden Valley Soccer Complex.
