Berg finishes season with a win

NEW CONCORD -- The Heidelberg University women's soccer team concluded their season with a 1-0 win away to Muskingum University on Saturday evening.

With the win, Heidelberg moved their final record to 7-10-1 on the year and 3-6 in conference play. The Muskies finished at 6-13, 1-8 OAC.

A goal midway through the first half from Victoria Perez was the difference. Perez scored what was her fifth goal of her freshman campaign, after receiving a pass from Kate Mundy

In the match, Heidelberg out-shot the hosts 17-8, including 9-4 in attempts on goal. Erica Campbell led all players with nine shot attempts, including four on frame.

Meredith Bruce stopped all four shots she faced from Muskingum. Katie Bodenmiller was credited with eight saves for Muskie.

At season's end, Campbell scored a team-leading 10 goals, while Audrey Kaufman added seven and Perez ended with five. The feat marks the second consecutive season in which the Berg has had a 10+, 6+, and 4+ goal scorer.

The Student Princes scored a total of 35 goals in 2019, there most since at least the 2008 season.
