Women's soccer blanked by Anderson

TIFFIN -- The Heidelberg University women's soccer team dropped a hard-fought battle with Anderson University 1-0. The loss moves the Student Princes to 3-2-2 while the Ravens improve to 3-1-2.

The Ravens scored their lone goal in the 14th minute. Katie Frazer broke free from the HU defense for a breakaway. Goalkeeper Alexandra Farmer pressured Frazer, forcing her to get rid of the ball. With Farmer on the ground, Frazer's ball trickled into the box and Emily Buchman fired a shot into the open net.

HU had their chances as they outshot the Ravens 17-9 in the match. With four minutes to play, the Student Princes were awarded a free kick from 22 yards out. Maddy Hines' shot was blocked by the AU defense, but the ball came right back to Hines and she launched a shot just high of the goal.

Farmer made four saves in the match. Anderson's goalkeeper Rebecca Roell made nine saves in the clean sheet.

The teams combined for 24 fouls in the contest.

Heidelberg will travel to Oberlin College for a game under the lights. Kickoff on September 21st is scheduled for 7 p.m.
