Women's Soccer falls in season finale

Box Score

TIFFIN—The Heidelberg University women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker to Wilmington College in their season finale on Saturday. The Quakers (10-7-1, 4-4-1 OAC) scored once midway through the second half and were able to hold on for the rest of the game. Heidelberg seniors Kristen Keenan and Brittany Yost were honored at halftime for their contributions to the program.

Alexandra Farmer led Heidelberg (8-11, 3-6 OAC), making eleven saves during another solid performance in goal.

FIRST HALF

The Quakers came out to a strong start, controlling play for most of the period. Coming off a strong defensive effort from Tuesday's game, the Berg kept Wilmington scoreless in the first half. Farmer made five saves in the half, including a kick save off a breakaway opportunity.

SECOND HALF

Both teams battled back and forth for possession early in the half. Wilmington's lone goal came in the 65th minute when Sarah Pierce crossed a ball from the left side that Taylor Scott chested in past Farmer. The Student Princes continued to fight, firing five shots in the remainder of the period.

The Berg's best chance to tie came in the 85th minute when Kristen Keenan launched a shot from the left side. The Wilmington keeper dove and was just able to get a piece of the ball to tip it out of bounds.

The loss ends Heidelberg's season, as they narrowly missed out on a playoff berth for the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament.
